Amerikansiskoni lähetti minulle syntymäpäivälahjaksi kirjan 2002. Olen lukenut sitä usein: "The Best Loved Poems of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Selected and introduced by Caroline Kennedy." JKO loved literature, especially poetry. "Once You can express yourself", she wrote, "You can tell the world what You want from it"... Now, Caroline Kennedy shares her mother's favorite poems and the words behind her strong belief in the power of literature. The poems presented span the centuries and include works by such renowned authors as Langston Hughes, William Shakespeare, Homer, W.B.Yeats, Emily Dickinson, E.E. Cummings, and Robert Frost.......This book offers an intimate view of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis' world, and a poignant glimpse into her heart."
Jacqueline Bouvier:
"When I go down by the sandy shore
I can think of nothing I want more
Than to live by the booming blue sea
As the seagulls flutter round about me
I can run about - when the tide is out
With the wind and the sand and the sea all about
And the seagulls are swirling and diving for fish
Oh - to live by the sea is my only wish."

Kiitos runon jakamisesta.
Voi kunpa!
If I could, I really would...
Kiitos kommenteista! Usein järvenrantamökillämme haaveksin meren uljuudesta, vaikka lempeä lahti lintuineen, lumpeineen, haikaroineen ja joutsenperheineen on enemmän kuin ehdin nauttia. Kunpa saisi säilöttyä talven varalle pulloon tämänkin viikonlopun aurinkoista, kuumaa kesäilmaa ja mökkimaisemaa.
